Deciding whether one should do an MBA (Master of Business Administration) is a very hot topic today. Is there any real value in pursuing such a curriculum? The answer to the relevant question is based on many parameters.

If you need a good foundation to boost your career the short answer is "definitely YES!" . An MBA will offer you a wealth of advantages, especially when you do it at a leading Business School with a very good international reputation such as Edinburgh Business School (EBS).

Securing your career and getting a higher salary even before you graduate, getting a better management position in a top management position or even becoming independent and becoming your own "boss" are just some of the benefits!

Some important reasons why it is worth starting a Master of Business Administration i.e. an MBA now.

1. Take advantage of the crisis and improve your prospects!

It will seem strange to you, but now you absolutely need to improve your qualifications and your image. The more competitive an environment is and the fewer attractive jobs there are, the higher qualifications we must have in order to stand out and be seen as capable of something more. Now is the best time to step up and get on the list of budding stars.

2. An MBA means better chances of a higher salary

The average salary for an MBA is significantly higher than the salary of an employee/executive without a master's degree. Your investment will definitely pay off no matter how adverse the current market conditions seem to you! A right decision now and an effort will give you multiple advantages for a lifetime.

3. Open the door to better opportunities for a successful career

Because of their qualifications, graduates of an MBA program have a greater chance of obtaining and holding a senior management position. More than 50% of MBA holders worldwide are senior executives, managers and board members. These positions of responsibility entail a higher salary, but of course influence, visibility, and higher job security. According to Bloomberg, some of the top employers hiring the most graduates in Europe include Deloitte, Ernst & Young, McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group and several others. American companies such as Apple, IBM, Procter and Gamble and Amazon are constantly chasing MBA graduates as well.

4. Get free access to a large network of businesses

As a student on a truly international MBA program like Edinburgh Business School's you have excellent international networking opportunities. You will "meet", interact and network with fellow students and graduates who are in high positions in Greece, but also in other 165 countries around the world and employed in the largest international companies (200 of the best multinational companies - Fortune 500 - employ EBS MBA holders).

You also get access to the extensive alumni network which in the case of Edinburgh Business School consists of around 19,000 executives worldwide!
These incredible networking opportunities will give you an in-depth picture of the business world and of course the opportunity to develop relationships locally and internationally that will help you "launch" your career!

5. Gain valuable business and management skills

An MBA is usually sought after by young professionals with at least two years of work experience and even by senior employees who want a challenge. After some time in working life, it is human nature to conform to a certain repetitiveness and avoid taking risks.
By studying for the Master of Business Administration of the Edinburgh Business School (EBS) you learn to deal with issues beyond the trivial, with issues of current international business activity, to apply the most modern management techniques and to constantly motivate yourself. And this will continue after graduation, as the MBA also provides you with the channels that will keep this challenge alive and push you to constantly improve.

6. Become, if you prefer, your own boss

Many students choose the EBS MBA because they want to become entrepreneurs and learn how to set up and run a business successfully. The MBA will help you gain the knowledge and business practices needed to start a new business or help an existing business improve and grow. Many MBA graduates end up starting their own businesses, and those who don't initially take at least middle-management roles in large companies with career prospects.

7. Gain international recognition and credibility

Even before you complete your MBA, regardless of where you plan to start or develop your career, the degree you will have received from EBS will be recognized and will certainly increase your credibility in the business world.

8. Enjoy real study flexibility!

One of the colossal advantages of the MBA, however, is its proven multifaceted adaptability and flexibility. With the EBS MBA you can certainly take many different career paths and make your dreams come true because the structure and rules of the program help you start the way you want, adapt it to your needs and finish it successfully ! EBS gives you the unique opportunity to start your studies when you want and complete your MBA at your own pace (fast or slow), in your place by moving to other cities or countries and pay it back in the way you choose. Surely there is no better! Make up your mind!!

You never have a second chance to make a first good impression!!

How to make a good impression

Congratulations! You have now reached the interview stage. What next??

You have now received an email inviting you to an interview. It probably has all the details needed. But what should you have with you? These are our suggestions:

  5. copy of interview invitation
  6. I.D. (passport or some other form)
  7. Degree certificates, examples of work
  8. Money, pen and notepad, mobile phone

Interview types:

  1. Telephone: normally used to eliminate candidates. If you are successful you will be invited to the next stage, usually an in-depth one-to-one interview
  2. Video: through Skype, FaceTime or YouTube. It is becoming increasingly popular for graduate roles. Video interviews are usually part of the initial screening process
  3. Face-to-face interview: usually takes place after the prospective employer has decided that you fill the job criteria. Face-to-face interviews may entail one interview with one interviewer or a number of one-to-one interviews with different company members at different times.
  4. Panel interviews: face-to-face interviews in which you will be interviewed by more members of the company at the same time.
  5. Group interviews: a number of candidates (not just you) are interviewed at the same time. Discussions on a number of topics may be held or questions asked in turn.
  6. Assessment centres: these include written tests, role-play and other type of exercises including group work. Assessment centres may last one to three days and several candidates are assessed at the same time. Companies try to assess your performance in a number of “real-life” situations.

If you do not have concise information on the type of interview contact the company and ask for as many details as possible so that you are prepared.
