MA in New Media, Governance & Democracy

 The University of Leicester with a history of more than 80 years is rated amongst the top 20 British Universities. The DMC – Department of Media & Communication is part of the School of Social Sciences. It evolved from the Centre for Mass Communication Research, CMCR which was the first academic centre to have been established in the United Kingdom with the single subject of Media and Communication studies (1966). Since then, the centre has played an important role both in national and international level regarding research in issues relative with Media and Communications. The establishment of the Department of Media and Communication has come as a result of the continuing commitment of the University of Leicester towards research on Media And Communications. Scope of the Department is to follow this long tradition of the Centre for Mass Communication Research, CMCR, offering top quality education and an excellent learning environment for students throughout the world.
 

 The programmes are offered in a Flexible Learning with full support from the University. The duration is 18 - 24 months. There are four intakes per year in October, January, April and July. Assessments are in the form of assignments and one examination.

The Dissertation

 Fees are payable in installments, to the University of Leicester. Included are books, study-packs, notes, exercises, case studies, exam fees, use of the iCon library, admission to the central University library and the use iCon’s “Total Support System” in general.
